🗣️ Simple Explanation

If a judge believes domestic violence happened, they can order the abuser to stay away from the victim's home. This means the abuser can't kick the victim out or stop them from using the house. The judge can also make the abuser find another place for the victim or pay for their rent.

💡 Real Life Example

A and B are married. A abuses B and throws her out of their shared home. The court can order A to let B back in the house or find her another place to live and pay for it.

🛡️ KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
  • You have the right to stay in your shared home, even if it's not in your name.
  • You can ask the court to order the abuser to stay away from your home.
  • The abuser might have to find you another place to live or pay rent.
